Ever feel like you’re constantly pulled in different directions, saying yes to things that drain you? Setting boundaries isn’t about shutting people out—it’s about making space for what truly matters. When you’re clear on your priorities, you can confidently decide what deserves your yes and learn to say no without guilt.

Let’s break it down into three key areas:

1. Decide What Truly Deserves Your “Yes”

Not everything is worth your time. The key to setting strong boundaries is getting crystal clear on your priorities. Before committing to something, ask yourself:

✔ Does this align with my values and goals?
✔ Will this add joy or fulfillment to my life?
✔ Do I truly have the time and energy for this?

If the answer is no, then it’s okay to let it go. Saying yes to everything means saying no to yourself. Choose wisely.

2. Learn to Say “No” with Confidence and Grace

Before you say yes to anything, pause. Give yourself time to consider if it truly aligns with your priorities. A simple, “Let me think about it and get back to you” creates space to make an intentional decision.

And when you know it’s a no, here are three ways to say it with confidence:

🚫 I appreciate you thinking of me. This year, I’m focused on other priorities.
🚫 I’d love to help! Right now, I don’t have the capacity to give it the attention it deserves.
🚫 Although that sounds like a great opportunity, but I’m committed to other causes.

No guilt. No over-explaining. Just clear, confident boundaries.

3. Protect Your Time and Energy

Your time and energy are your most valuable resources—treat them that way. Be intentional about what you allow into your life.

⏳ Calendar Blocking: Schedule time for both work and personal priorities—then protect it like any other important meeting.
⚡ Know Your Peak Productivity Hours: Work when you’re at your best.
👥 Be Mindful of Energy Drainers: Limit interactions with people who deplete your energy.

💡 What’s one boundary you need to set this week? Drop it in the comments—we’re in this together! 💪

If Self-Care Feels Selfish, Read This. https://lindaholmancoaching.com/if-self-care-feels-selfish-read-this/ Thu, 13 Feb 2025 15:42:40 +0000 https://lindaholmancoaching.com/?p=2789 Show Yourself Some Love

Do you give all your energy to others? Are you always putting yourself last? It’s easy to get caught up in work, family, and responsibilities, leaving little time for yourself. Showing yourself love isn’t selfish—it’s essential. When you take care of yourself, you have more energy, patience, and strength to support others. You also lead by example, showing those around you the importance of self-care.

Here are three simple ways to prioritize yourself and nurture your well-being:

1. Prioritize Self-Care

What’s one thing you can do to take care of yourself? Schedule that massage, sign up for a yoga class, or take 10 minutes to journal. Small acts of self-care remind you that you matter too.

2. Do Something You Enjoy

Think back to what you loved as your younger self. Was it playing games, dancing, laughing with friends, or walking in nature? Reconnect with what brings you joy and make space for it.

3. Speak to Yourself with Kindness

That inner voice can be your greatest cheerleader or toughest critic. Practice positive self-talk by shifting negative thoughts into affirmations. Try this: “I am worthy of investing in myself.”

If you don’t have one of your own, borrow this until you find the words that resonate with you.

Your challenge: Pick one of these self-love actions and commit to it. When you prioritize yourself, you show up as your best self for others. How will you show yourself love today?

The Power of Focused Energy https://lindaholmancoaching.com/the-power-of-focused-energy/ Thu, 16 Jan 2025 03:00:47 +0000 https://lindaholmancoaching.com/?p=2689 Simple Steps to Clear Your Mind, Set Goals, and Thrive

Have you ever felt like you’re juggling so much that you’re not truly making progress? Sometimes, the key to thriving isn’t doing more—it’s focusing your energy on what matters most.

One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned is how focus can transform not just your productivity, but your clarity and sense of purpose. It starts with intentionally directing your energy, and it involves three simple yet impactful steps.

1. Get Organized

Clutter—both physical and mental—can drain your energy. Start by creating a clear environment that supports your goals. Whether it’s decluttering your workspace or organizing your thoughts through journaling, meditating, or tracking your triggers, give yourself the gift of space to think clearly and focus.

2. Set Meaningful Goals

What’s the vision you have for your life or work? Picture it clearly. Then, break it down into actionable steps. Focus on a few meaningful priorities rather than spreading yourself too thin. When you set smaller milestones, like quarterly goals, you create momentum and ensure steady progress toward your vision.

3. Cultivate a Positive, Growth-Oriented Mindset

How you speak to yourself shapes your reality. Pay attention to your inner dialogue and start replacing self-doubt with encouragement. Growth begins with believing in your ability to thrive and reframing challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.

As I often say, “We’re all on a journey.” A while ago, I set out to complete a century ride—100 miles in a single day. It didn’t happen overnight. It took many training rides, countless hills, and consistent effort to build my strength. When my grandson asked, “How’d she do that?” the answer was simple: one mile at a time.

Focused energy is a game-changer. It allows you to approach your goals with clarity and purpose. You don’t need to tackle everything at once or have all the answers today. Whether you’re pursuing a major career milestone, personal achievement, or simply striving for balance, progress happens one mile, one step, one action at a time.

What’s one mile you can take today toward the life you envision? Write it down and commit to it.

Let’s focus on what matters and thrive—starting right now.
